Hyatt Place Poughkeepsie / Hudson Valley

Very clean and comfortable hotel that could really look to improve its service. -Let's start with the good: Rooms are clean and comfortable with wood plank floors (always a plus for me), and a spacious bathroom/shower. Fitness center is good, with a number of machines available and their breakfast is good with numerous options included in the nightly price. -Now with the bad: Service needs to improve. I needed to do laundry and not only are the washing/dryer machines not accept credit cards (not unusual) but the front desk couldn't be bothered to make change available for its guests so they could use the machines. They also seemingly had a poor attitude about it. This detracted from my stay in a big way. It wouldn't be so bad had it not forced me to drive down to the nearest supermarket just to get change to use their laundry. Not good. If you don't need to do laundry, and if you can minimize interaction with some of the staff, you'll do fine here.

The Hyatt Place is a little tucked away cute hotel. The room was very clean and comfortable. Not all rooms have both microwaves and refrigerators. The keycard is the power for your room so make sure you get 2 cards. The breakfast was great, with a lot to choice from. Overall it was a very nice stay, the front desk were super nice and helpful and I'd definitely stay here again.

Great little home base for exploring the Hudson Valley or a stopover on the way to and from Vermont. The entire hotel is very clean and the front desk staff is very polite. The hotel itself is located next to a building full of storage units and I initially thought the GPS took me to the wrong place. Because of the location nothing is walkable but self parking is free at the hotel. They pull strong espresso shots and there's the little Cabot butter packets alongside the waffle maker. I think they comped my double shot because of Hyatt membership status? Very pleasant front desk staff as I said. The guest room HVAC was a little weak and when it's disgustingly humid in NY state it's just a little too warm. The hotel uses the electrical system where you need the key card inserted into the wall and that means the HVAC hasn't been running very much at all when you arrive. It took about maybe two hours for the room to be reasonable for sleeping. There are a few other bizarre design choices despite it being a relatively new Hyatt (2019/2020?) and clearly is not one of the old Amerisuites rebuilds, such as no light in the shower stall and a lack of towel hooks next to the sink. The only towel hooks are also trapped behind the bathroom door despite a giant spacious wall. There's also only two towel hooks and four is practically a bare minimum (five if your spouse has one of those expanding hanging toiletry bags). The room was otherwise spacious and super clean with great shower water pressure. Mini fridge was generously sized for holding my loot bag of Vermont cheese.
