The hotel itself? Fantastic. The lobby is large, inviting, and has plenty of excess decorative stuff that screams, "we got the basics down pat, so we can afford to play with the detail." There's also a bowl of fruit out 24/7. I marvel at the modern supply chain. The room was large, clean and not beat like a screen door. The water was instantly hot like the pipes were run through the River Styx and back up to the showerhead just to wash all of my regrets down the drain. The location does leave something to be desired. Highway 17K makes this place its own Hotel California, since you can come, but you can never leave because the non-stop stream of traffic locks you in. And then there's Newburgh.

When we checked in, the front desk asked for my id and card that I booked with. Next thing I know is she put my card into the credit card reader that was on the counter without even saying a word. I understand that a card on file is needed for incidentals, but I found it odd that she didn’t say anything and just did it. The room was pretty good, and spacious. There was an icky goo stain on the table, which wasn’t pleasant to see while eating. The bathroom big and spacious and toiletries were great. The curtains stop in the middle so it doesn’t close all the way.

We went to a Speak Easy at The Ellis and stayed here for 1 night. It was clean and the staff was friendly. Loved the lounge area and it was great to have a bar on site. Wish there was a restaurant on site as well, but unfortunately they do not have one. The bar was reserved at a certain time at night for a wedding party , so we were asked to leave for the private party. That wasn't cool, but we listened and went and sat in the lounge area / breakfast room. There is fitness room and a pool. We didnt get to use either one, but it was nice to know they were there if we wanted to! The free breakfast was pretty good. There were eggs, sausage patties and 2 different waffle mixes. There was fruit, cereal, toast , scones and muffins. Quite a variety. Loved the coffee station right in the lobby area. Coffee was perfect! They have tea as well :) They also have a microwave by the coffee station and there are plastic utensils, which was helpful for our leftovers from the restaurant we went to. We enjoyed our night. Beds were comfortable and the temperature of the room was good. We had a nice time 😀
